FAQ- How to sell a downloadable file. Read this first!

Hi
I want to sell an e-book through my webs site.
I have already had one answer to this query, but did not understand what I need to do.
Can someone give me a step-by-step guide, imagine that I am ten years old and have no knowledge of the issue.

Regards

Mike

    Hello Again Mike,

I apologize for the previously unclear instructions. Here is the full breakdown :-)

First, Upload your file into the file manager
    1. Log into your account
    2. Click "edit this site"
    3. Click on the "File Manager" tab and select "single file uploader.
    4. Click "browse" to search for your file on your home computer then click "upload file".

Create a page where your file will be downloadable and hide it
    1. Log into your webs account
    2. Click "edit this site"
    3. Click "add a new page" and name the page "FILE DOWNLOAD PAGE".
    4. Add a content box to your page and delete the preexisting text inside of it.
    5. Click on "link" and select "My files".
    6. Select your file and click "insert" (the file will now be visible and downloadable on this page)
    7. Click "Publish" and "view my site" (A new browser window will open)
    8. Copy the URL of that page and save it for later use.
    9. Return back to your Site manager's Page.
    8. Under the "My Pages Section, Click the "eye" icon next to the page your FILE DOWNLOAD PAGE. (This will hide your page so that it cannot be seen on your site.
    9. Be sure to click "SAVE" at the VERY bottom of your page.

Create the paypal widget with your downloadable file attached.
    1. Log into your webs account
    2. Click on "edit this site"
    3. Click on the page you would like to add the paypal button to. (Unfortunately THIS particular type of paypal button cannot be added to your webstore. You will have to either add this to your homepage or a blank page that you have created. It can ONLY be inserted where a "content box" can be inserted.)
    4. Once on the designated page, add a content box and erase the preexisting content.
    5. Click on "addons" and type "paypal" in the search bar.
    6. Select "paypal single item button" and input your paypal information.
    7. On the line labeled "Success Page", paste the URL of the FILE DOWNLOAD PAGE that you copied earlier.
Note: This is where your customer will be directed after they have paid.
    8. Click "insert this widget" to insert the paypal button onto the page.
    9. Make sure to publish your changes.

I hope these instructions are much clearer Mike!!! Thank you for contacting us and feel free to do so again if you have any questions additionally!

    Andrew,

The video uploads are given in limits of time. If your 500 MB video file is within your package limits then the file can be downloaded from your site. FYI Members who download this type of material would use up a VERY large amount of your monthly Bandwidth. If you're going to do this, I would definitely recommend purchasing additional bandwidth so that you do not easily exceed your monthly quota.

You can create a page, add a content box, click "links", then click "my files", to link your file to your site. Just refer to the above instructions. The customer simply clicks on the file and they will be able to open it from their computer. Hope that helps!

The part about the video given with limit of time, I still don't quite understand. Wasn't it consider as data transfer through bandwidth? Why should a timing set for the video? Also I will be zipping up the video so it will be consider as data then video right?

Thanks for your advice on additional bandwidth. i will pay extra attention on that!

I will test out the above instructions and adding a paypal widget. If I can work through the pipeline. I will subscript a professional package next week!

Thanks again Dom, you are very helpful!

    Rgds,

Andrew it's no problem :-). To clarify, the timing for videos is in reference to the Video gallery uploads. I apologize for the confusion. It IS considered data if you're just uploading the file. As I stated before, the file should upload without issue as long as it is within the file size limit. Glad to be of assistance! Let us know if you need additional help once you have purchased your Pro Package!!

    Good Day,

    Dom
